Massachusetts State Building Code 780 CMR sixth edition section 106 requires that structures with this use be inspected once a year. Our office has not conducted a 106 inspection at that location. I have enclosed an application for you to complete, upon return receipt of your application with the fee required, I will re-inspect and issue a certificate of inspection that must be posted in a conspicuous spot. The inspection yesterday revealed that the alarm system for the building was in trouble. FD asked that repairs be made within 24hrs and that FD then be notified upon repairs. The inspection also revealed a hood installation with a ansul fire suppression system over the stove in the kitchen area. The ansul system is required to be tied into alarm system that upon activation will transmit alarm signal to either a third party alarm company capable of re- transmitting alarm to FD with 90 seconds or be tied directly the Fire Station. The ansul system is not required by code in its present use and could be disconnected with approval from the Fire Chief, with the required work permits but if you choose to continue its use then it must be tied into alarm system as previously outlined. The fire alarm control panel, located near the front entry, was covered by a painting. The alarm panel must be visible at all times and not concealed or covered. You have thirty days in which to comply, if you have any questions please contact me at 587-1240 or e-mail at a patil.loL;northamptonma.gov.
