Lattice work:

We will install two sets of stairs 4'wide from the ground to the deck. One set of stairs will be centered on
the front door and one set of stairs will be placed on the driveway side of the porch.
Stair will consist of 2x pressure treated stringers and risers with 5/4x6 trex select treads.

We will install(6) 4x4 pressure treated posts to the stair areas. Install Premier post sleeves to the 4x4 pt
posts. Install new premier railing kits to two sets of stairs and the porch area.

Demolition:
Remove existing bushes located at the front of the house.We will try to save two of them.
Remove existing front steps and railings.
Remove partial shutters to be saved and siding on the front side of the house. (Corners to remain)
Remove the existing bay window,front doors and entrance overhang.
Excavation:
Dig for(4)new piers,4' in the ground as per code. Install(4) big Foote bases with 10"sonatubes.
Backfrll piers and grade dirt to pitch away from the house. Excess dirt to be spread out on the property.
Concrete piers-
We will pour 3,000 lb.psi concrete mix into the sonatubes and pier bases.
We will place a '/:"x 10" galvanized anchor bolt into the center of the concrete filled tubes.
Framing:
We will install(4)6x6 post anchors to the piers. Install(4)6x6 pressure treated posts.
2x8 pressure treated material will be used for ledger,beam and floor joist 16" O.C.
We will lag the deck to the house using 3/8"x 4 %1' galvanized lags and washers.
We will flash the ledger to the house using laminated copper flashing.
(4)Turn Craft poly classic posts. Posts will be structural,square and smooth.
Posts will be installed to deck to hold up the roof.
Install 2x6 Us ceiling joist 16" O.C. Install 1x3 firing strips across the porch ceiling joist 16:0.C.
Install 2x10 Us hip rafters and 2x8 Us common rafters 16" O.C. (Hip Roof)

HOME OWNER EXEMPTION ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The State of Massachusetts allows the homeowner the right under 780CMR 108.3.4 to act as his/her
construction supervisor. The state defines "Homeowner" as, " Person(s) who owns a parcel on which
he/she resides or intends to be, a one or two family dwelling, attached or detached structures
accessory to such use and/or farm structures. A person who construct ore than one home in a two-
year period shall not be considered a home owner."
The building department for the..City of Northampton wants/anyrson(s)who seek to use the home
owner exemption, to act as their n construction supervis aware that by doing so you
become responsible for complian a with state building and regulations. The inspection
process requires that the building dep ment be called to i ork at various stages, which include
foundation/footings before backfill " notube holes before our a rou h buildin ins ection
before work is concealed insulation i s ection if a uired and a final buildin ins ection.
The building department requires these insp tions bef re the work is concealed, failure to secure
these ins ections can result in failure to ob in a ertificate of occu anc until the work can be
inspected.
If the homeowner hires other trades to perform wo (electrical, plumbing & gas) the homeowner will be
responsible to make sure that the trades hired s u their proper permits in conjunction to the building
permit issued, and that they get their requir insp tions. Failure of the individual trades to secure
the permits and inspections as required can ELAY the roject until such time as the proper permits
and inspections are made
