Dear Sarah,
On behalf of the Mill River Greenway Initiative I’d like to express strong
support for the Stephen Stimson design for Pulaski Park. I attended 3 of the meetings prior to the final presentation and was impressed with the process and care the design team took
in developing its final plan, which does everything possible to take all community voices into consideration. Speaking for the Hidden Mill River, since it can’t speak for itself, the
old riverbed will rejoice to reunite with the community. The Stimson team’s cunning design that turns the steep hillside at the back of the park into a viewpoint and pathway down to
the Roundhouse Lot and Mill River will add enormous value to this historic piece of Northampton.
We, at the Mill River Greenway Initiative, fervently hope that the CPC and the City
will grant the funds to move this project forward. We’ve traveled such a tortuous path from the the squabbling over a hotel and parking lot to this point of urban unification.
