Proposed work:
The intent of this application is to gain approval for 28 feet of 8-foot-high stockade fence
to provide a barrier at the corner of the property [256 Bridge Road, Florence]. The fence
is to be professionally installed on residential site to: reduce traffic noise, fumes, dirt, and
visual exposure of roadside property; and to increase home security and separation from
the abutting public recreation area [Arcanum Field].
As indicated on the attached sketch, the forward sections of the fence would be
constructed of approximately 4-5 sections of 8-foot-high stockade-style fencing,
including 12 feet at the front [south side] and 16 feet at the west side. The 8-foot fencing
at the west side would then transition to 6-foot-high fencing [also stockade style] for 48
feet. [Please see the attached sketch.]
There are no abutting neighbors on the proposed site of the fence, which would be on the
left side of the house 12 feet back from Bridge Road. The proposed fence will not change
the public view of the property, as there already exists a line of shrubs and trees in the
same configuration as the fence described above. The fence would be constructed
between the trees/shrubs and the house. The existing shrubbery would remain.
The 12-foot section along the front [street] side would be flush with the front wall of the
house, which means it will be behind the tall shrubbery. [Please see the attached photos.]
