Lyons 51 Sylvester Road Northampton, MA. 01060 RECEIVED. Mayor Ford 18 City Of Northampton Northampton, MA. 01060 MAYOR OF NORTHAMPTON, Dear Mayor Ford; I will be meeting with you on Friday, January 20, 1995 concerning some telephone conversations I have recently had with the Northampton Building Inspectors. The purpose of this letter is to give you some insight into my personality and credentials. I want to insure you that I am not an idle malcontent, and undeserving of the unprofessional treatment I encountered when speaking with the building inspectors. I am a team player; eager to join in and volunteer for a worthy cause. I have shown this over the years by serving as Vice President and Corresponding Secretary for the Cooley Dickinson Hospital Auxiliary. I also volunteered in the Coffee Shop and designed and painted most of the last Follies sets. Although I am a professional designer having practiced in the Springfield area for ten years, I have chosen to stay at home while my children are young to give them the nurturing start I believe they need. I spend much of my time in fundraising for the elementary school we are associated with, and volunteering in many other ways both at home and in the classroom. One of the more recent projects I have been involved with is organizing the citizen coalition to raise money for the community commitment portion of the Lapalme conservation land which was successfully purchased by the City. I spent many hours canvassing city businesses for donations and knocking on neighborhood doors asking for items to be sold at the tag sale benefit run by Alffieda Robertson and me. In the future I expect I will be actively involved in the marking and upkeep of the trails on this land as well. As any volunteer will tell you we do these things not only for ourselves ,but for the common good. I feel it makes for a stronger community spirit, and eventually, a better.,.--,-,, -1 k-n- so community. I am speaking f6r mafiy'Sylvester Road residents when I appeal to you for elp in resolving the issue of zoning violations on the Lavalley property. We have been patiently waiting for the Building Inspector's office to enforce the zoning laws, but are disappointed by the lack of cooperation to date. `—Zhank-you4bryour time.
