Valley CDC proposes to redevelop the former Northampton Lumber Yard property at 256 Pleasant Street
into approximately 50 units of affordable rental housing and approximately 3,500 square feet of commercial
space on the first floor. The units will be affordable to households earning between 30 to 60 percent of the
Area Median Income (AMI). The units will be a mix of 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments. The goal of this
project is to not only add 50 income-restricted units to the City's inventory of affordable housing but also to
revitalize the Pleasant Street corridor to create a more vibrant downtown. The property has an ideal location
along a bus route that is also in close proximity to an entrance to the bike path and the new Amtrak train platform.
CPA funding would go towards the hard and soft costs during construction after the project has been fully funded.
