The lining should be smooth, clean and not porous so that it is easily cleaned
and will not absorb moisture. The size of the liner should not be reduced to a
size smaller that the stovepipe connecting the heater to the chimney. Because
smoke and heat travel upward in a spiral motion, a round liner is most
desirable. A square or rectangular shaped liner with rounded corners is more
efficient than with sharp corners. Any space between the inner and outer wall
should be DEAD AIR space , not a circulating air space. Dead air will retain
heat - circulating air will chill the liner. A chimney may he much too htrl;e
for the heater to operate in a satisfactory manner but we seldom find one too
high.
The chimney to which the stove is to be attached should be clean, free of
obstructions and airtight. If other appliances are used on the same chimney
the installation of these should also be airtight. Two heaters should nover bo
attached to a chimney at the same level. One will roh the otht>r of draft bull
and neither will operate in a satisfactory manner. The top of tho chimney +
should extend above the roof line and be free of overhanging trot:, limas or
other obstructions.
INSTALLATION OF FISHER STOVES
A stove mat or any non-combustible material equal tcj I/R" thick, Such as
asbestos , brick, pumice block, tile , etc. , should he placed under your FISHER
STOVE. Your stove should be placed 24" away from a comhustible wall, the, pipe
18" away from a combustible wall. The stove pipe should be C'' , 26 gauge.

TO BUILD A FIRE IN YOUR FISHER STOVE
Place paper and kindling over the entire hottom of the firebox so as to start
with an even burning fire. Open the draft caps on the door to allow air passage
into stove. Light paper, when kindling is burning, add small amount of tlry wood
and build up gradually to hotter fire. To fire your stove, use round unsplit logs
for best results. 'Mixed dry to moderately green hardwood will give the most
heat. Your FISHER will handle most any type of wood, but some types produce
more heat than others and will hold fire longer. Avoid wood with a high pitch
content as much as possible especially if creosote is a problem.
