31D-221 (14) 131' -old/ Bin �Z aCObS Design Build Remodeler 70 Old South Street,Northampton ^ FIRE NARRATIVE p l DEC 1 5 Vp S December 14, 2004 After completing a walk-through with the Deputy Fire Chief Duane Nichols, it was determined that the property of 70 Old South Street,Northampton, MA will have two separate fire detection systems. The first system will be for the first and second floors. One smoke detector will be located in the basement at the bottom of the stairwell. There will be another smoke detector at the top of the stairwell on the first floor, placed on the wall within 12 inches of the ceiling. There is a break room that will also have a smoke detector within 36 inches of the doorway leading from the basement hallway. A common area on the first floor will have two smoke detectors. The first will be on the wall outside doors to three offices,within 12" of the ceiling. The second will be on the wall within 12"of the ceiling at the base of a stairwell to the second floor. A second stairwell is located off the break room; this stairwell will also have a detector on the ceiling. The second floor has a smoke detector placed on the wall within 12" of the ceiling in both of the stairwell landings. This first fire detection system has a total of 7 smoke detectors hard-wired with a battery backup. The second fire detection system will be for the third floor rental property. There will be a smoke detector on the wall within 12" of the ceiling at the bottom of the stairwell. There will be another smoke detector on the ceiling at the top of the stairwell landing. In addition, this apartment has two bedrooms; both will have a smoke detector on the ceiling within 36"of the doorway. There will be a total of 4 smoke detectors for the second fire systems, all of them hard-wired with a battery backup.
