25C-007 (9) DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING INSPECTIONS INSPECTOR 212 Main Street ' Municipal Building ''M 1 • '° Northampton, Mass. 01060 September 17 , 1996 Jenny A Daniell Attorney at Law PO Box 687 Amherst, MA 01004 RE: Letter Dated Sept. 13 , 1996, 142 North Street Dear Ms. Daniell, I received your letter dated September 13 and wanted to confirm our phone conversations as well as contents of your letter. 1. I agreed that chimney work would not be stopped but that the contractor doing the work contact this office with regards to the work to be performed. This was not done no contractor has contacted this office for that work. 2. You stated that your clients, "have initiated all appropriate steps towards obtaining the necessary building permits to complete all desired finish work on the house" . Our office has been only contacted by electrican' s, no contractor has contacted us for a building permit for work performed or to finish work. The only request was by Ms. Paulinski for an application for a permit to install windows on porch, nothing has been done for securing a building permit for the work performed on second floor, specifically subdividing room into smaller rooms and installation of exterior door. 3 . I will not seek an injunction to close the house as long as steps are taken to secure the proper building and electrical permits. The process for obtaining those permits starts in this office with the contractors filling out the proper applications. 4 . The scheduling of inspections are to be made by the contractor who secures the permit and our office. The contractor in turn can work with you and your client to insure that the property will be open for inspections. I thank you for helping to resolve these issues. If you have any questions please feel free to call. Anthony Patillo Building Commissioner - City of Northampton CC: J Sheppard
