B. Partitions running at an angle to beams, steel joists and other objects extending down from the slab or deck above, shall be carried between such objects. C. Where a partition runs directly below and parallel to a steel joist, the steel joist shall be furred so that gypsum board can applied to both sides of the joist. D. Floor and ceiling tracks shall be accurately aligned according to partition layout and securely fastened using approved fasteners at no more than 2'-0" O.C. E. Studs shall be spaced at 1'-4" o.c. , except at walls used to support wall cabinets or other wall mounted equipment where spacing shall be reduced to 1'-0" o.c. and secured in place. F. Its uses will be permitted on minor members when the member is not under stress. G. Connections for all main members shall be by high strength bolts, unless � otherwise noted. H. All framed beam connections shall be made using double web angles, unless otherwise noted on the Drawings. I. As erection progresses all field welds, bolted connections and spots where dW the shop applied primer has been injured shall be primed with a primer to match the shop primer. J. Bridging of steel joists shall be in accordance with the SJI Specifications. K. Holes shall not be made or enlarged by burning. L. All joists shall be set to the elevations and spacing shown on the approved shop drawings with the appropriate end supports, bridging and end anchorage. M. Each joist resting on Steel supports, shall be welded or bolted to each support as required by the SJI Specifications. N. All roof joists shall be anchored down to resist uplift forces in accordance with SJI standard specifications. O. The joists shall be permanently fastened to supports and all bridging and anchors completely installed before any construction loads (other than workmen) are placed on the joists. P. The steel decking shall be installed in straight and continuous runs as are practicable, with ribs at right angles to the supporting members and shall be �. continuous over at least three (3) supports. End laps shall occur over bearing points only. End laps shall be not less than six (6) inches. All deck units shall be secured to their supports by welding as noted on the Drawings. In all cases, roof deck units shall be anchored in accordance with the supporting framework in a manner to resist 30 PSF gross uplift forces, minimum, or as required by local code restrictions. Q. Welded deck connections to steel supports shall be by fusion type welds as prescribed by the AWS. The sizes, spacing and welding sequence shall be as recommended by the deck manufacturer, but must not be less than that noted on the drawings. Welding shall be indicated on the approved erection layouts or shop drawings. Side joints shall be mechanically fastened, or welded; the type and , spacing of fasteners shall be as noted on the drawings. Fasten accessories to deck by welding or by self-tapping sheet metal screws. R. Openings for stacks, pipes, sumps, roof drains, ventilators, scuttles, and any other projections through the roof shall be cut and fitted neatly and shall be reinforced as necessary for rigidity and load carrying capacity. Openings larger than four square feet shall be pre-determined and indicated on the shop drawings. S. Ladders for access to roof hatches, indirect waste pit, roof to roof access and elevator pit shall be fabricated 18" wide with 3" x 3/8" side rails and 3/4" .�. diameter rungs at 1'-0" o.c. and shall be equipped with wall, floor anchors as required. Ladder shall be in conformance with OSHA rules and regulations. T. Pipe rails shall be 1 1/2" diameter steel pipe. All exterior rails shall be ,.. hot dipped galvanized after fabrication. All welds shall be ground smooth prior to galvanizing and/or painting. Provide pipe sleeves at docks where shown. U. Provide and install miscellaneous pipe sleeves for utilities and generator muffler piping thru exterior wall, for mechanical connections to Owner's case work and all other equipment. X. Provide and install one (1) 54" long rail and one (1) 42" long rail at each -, handicapped toilet stall. Rails shall be 1 1/4" diameter, type 304, 18 ga. non-slip stainless steel, by "Bobrick" or "Bradley". Rails shall be mounted at Structural Steel & Miscellaneous Iron - 5A-4 erection seats and attachments, and provide leveling plates, anchor bolts, and wall bearing plates. Conform to Table 1 - Framed Beam Connection in the AISC Manual, and for all beam connections. Detail to develop the full design strength of the member. See drawings for additional information. B. Columns shall be straight and free from bow or twist, with bearing ends at right angles to the columns axis. Shop weld all cap and base plates. Provide 1/4" thick leveling plates matching column bases for all columns and beams resting on masonry or concrete. om C. Any refabrication or corrective measures necessary to accomplish proper fit shall not be undertaken without the express approval of the Architect. D. Steel joists shall be open web K-Series or LH-Series as noted on plan. All top and bottom chords and bearing members shall be double-angles. so E. Lower chords of all joists shall be extended and attached on all column lines for structural rigidity and as otherwise noted on the drawings. Where ceilings occur directly below underslung-type joists, ceiling extension shall be provided, or the lower chord member extended. F. All exposed welded joints shall be ground smooth. G. Galvanizing: All ferrous metal under this Section for exterior use (including lintels in exterior masonry walls), in addition to interior items so specified, .� shall be hot-dip galvanized, ASTM A123 and then hot-phosphate treated, SSPC-PT4-53T. Treatment shall be after fabrication. H. Reinforce joists at brace support points and other locations of concentrated loads. Care shall be taken to avoid damaging the joists during welding asp operations. 2.3 PAINTING: A. All structural steel and steel joists, except as hereinafter noted, shall be thoroughly cleaned and dry, and shall given one shop coat of primer. B. Surfaces of steel which are to be encased in concrete shall not be painted. C. All connection portions of structural steel to be field welded shall receive one shop coat of linseed oil. D. After erection, retouch all portions of the shop coat that have been chipped or damaged during erection, and all field welds and connections, with the same paint used for the shop coat. E. Contact surfaces of all joints where high strength bolts are to be used shall be cleaned by effective means before assembly, but not painted. F. Shop paint may be applied by brush or spray. Do not thin paint more than 5 percent when brushes are used, nor more than 10 percent when spray methods are used. G. Galvanized items shall receive a shop coat of rust inhibitive primer. a� PART 3: EXECUTION 3.1 GENERAL: .w A. The steel erector shall provide and install all temporary bracing needed to hold the frame in a square position until the masonry shear walls are constructed and anchored to the frame. The erector shall remove all temporary bracing as soon as possible, once it is no longer needed. 0 B. Welding shall be done by certified welders using E70XX electrodes. 3.2 ERECTION AND INSTALLATION: 4W A. Provide removable posts, sockets and chains at two (2) levels for safety when hatch is open. J. Details of fabrication and workmanship where not indicated by details on the drawings shall be in accordance with the current specification of the AISC for the Design, Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel for Buildings, and its Code of Standard Practice. Fabricate in the shop to the greatest extent possible. Arrange all members and connections to be shop welded and field bolted wherever possible. Shop cope beams as required; provide 1/2 in. web stiffeners welded all around on both sides over columns for all beams, unless otherwise noted; shop drill or punch for all connections; provide all necessary hardware, clips, Structural Steel & Miscellaneous Iron - 5A-2 OR ■w SECTION 5A STRUCTURAL STEEL & MISCELLANEOUS IRON PART 1: GENERAL ao 1.1 SCOPE: Furnish and install all structural steel and miscellaneous metal work indicated and/or herein specified. an 1.2 STANDARDS: A. All structural steel shall be designed, fabricated and erected in accordance with the latest editions of the AISC Specifications for the Design, Fabrication, and Erection of Structural Steel and the AISC Code of Standard Practice. so B. All welding and equipment, both shop and field, shall conform to the latest edition of the AWS Code for Welding in Building Construction (subject to State and local laws and ordinances) . All welding shall be completed by certified welders. C. All open web steel joists and truss girders shall be designed, fabricated and erected in accordance with the latest standards of the SJI. D. All metal deck shall be designed, fabricated and erected in accordance with the latest standards of the SDI. E. All miscellaneous iron work shall conform to the applicable publications of the National Association of Architectural Metal Manufacturers (NAAMM) . ' 1.3 SUBMITTALS: A. Submit Shop Drawings in two (2) copies, one (1) sepia reproducible and one (1) blackline or blueline print. The omission of any materials called for on the Project Drawings from the Steel Contractor's shop drawing shall not relieve him of responsibility for such materials, even though the Architect approves said shop drawing. The design of connections for any portions of the building not shown on the *■ Project Drawings shall be completed by a REGISTERED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER employed by the Fabricator. E. The steel joist and truss girder manufacturer shall submit calculations for all special joists along with the joist shop drawings. The Owner shall employ the services of a qualified Inspection and Testing Company. Test results shall also be submitted directly to the Architect and Structural Engineer in a timely fashion during the course of the Work. B. Fire-rated Concrete Unit Masonry: Wherever a fire-resistance classification ao or rating is shown or scheduled for concrete unit masonry construction (3 hour, 2 hour and similar designations) , obtain units complying with the requirements established by the American Insurance Association, Factory Mutual or other similar governing authorities. B.Obtain units from one manufacturer, cured by one process and of uniform texture and color, for each type required, for each continuous area and visually related area. a 1.3 SUBMITTALS: A. Manufacturer's Data, Brick Veneer and Concrete Masonry Units: Submit 2 copies of the manufacturer's data for each type of unit masonry required, including certified copies of laboratory test reports and other data as may be required to show compliance with the specified requirements. B. Submit three (3) samples of each type of masonry unit specified. Select units to show the range of color and texture which can be expected in the finished work. C. Architect's review will be for color and texture only. For exterior exposure above or below grade, provide Grade U or Grade P. C. Extend flashings beyond edge of lintels and sills at least 4" and turn up edge at sides to form a pan to direct moisture to exterior. b. Interlock end joints of deformed metal flashings by over-lapping deformations not less than 1 1/2" and seal lap with an elastic sealant. c. Install flashings in accordance with the manufacturer's written instructions. d. Install any elastic flashings in accordance with the manufacturer's written instructions. .. 2. Provide weep holes in the head joints of the first course of masonry immediately above concealed flashings. Space at 21-811o.c. , unless otherwise shown. 3. Install reglets and nailers for flashing and other related work where shown to be built into masonry work. 3.4 REPAIR POINTING AND CLEANING: wu A. Remove and replace masonry units which are loose, chipped, broken, stained or not match adjoining units as intended. Provide new units to match adjoining units and install in fresh mortar, pointed to eliminate evidence of replacement. B. Pointing: During the tooling of joints, enlarge any voids or holes, except weep holes, and completely fill with mortar. Point-up all joints at corners, openings and adjacent work to provide a neat, uniform appearance, properly prepared for application of caulking or sealants. .� C. Cleaning Exposed, Unglazed Masonry Surfaces: 1. Wipe off excess mortar as the work progresses. Dry brush at the end of each day's work. 2. Final Cleaning: After the mortar is thoroughly set and cured, clean sample wall area of approximately 50sf as follows. Obtain Architect's approval and acceptance of sample cleaning before proceeding to clean rest of masonry work. a. Dry clean to remove large particles of mortar using wooden paddles and scrappers. Use chisel or wire brush if required. b. Presoak wall by saturating with water and flush off loose mortar and dirt. c. Cleaning: Clean down all exterior masonry surfaces at the completion of the work with a diluted solution of muriatic acid in water. Masonry surfaces must be flushed with clean water before applying acid solution, and flushed thoroughly with clean water immediately after washing. Care shall be taken to cover and protect metal and concrete surfaces from being splashed by the acid solution. Clean interior surfaces with brush and water or suitable non-staining cleaning solutions. D. Protection: 1. The Contractor is to use proper procedures required to protect the masonry work from deterioration, discoloration or damage during subsequent construction *� operations. 2. Normal weathering of masonry work, exposed to the weather after completion, will be acceptable, provided other conditions and activities do not interfere and result in an unacceptable condition. END OF SECTION Unit Masonry - 4C-4 •• e� Do not pound corner jambs to fit stretcher units which have been set in position. If adjustments are required, remove units, clean off mortar and reset in fresh mortar. G. Collar Joints: Fill the vertical longitudinal joint between wythes solidly OR with mortar by parging the in-place wythe and shoving units into parging at non-load bearing nterior walls or g partitions where metal ties or horizontal reinforcing are specified for structural bonding and full thickness of wall or partition is required to meet code requirements for thickness-to-height ratio or sm fire rating. H. Stopping and Resuming Work: Rake back 4" in each course; do not tooth. Clean exposed surfaces of set mortar and remove loose masonry units and mortar prior to laying any fresh masonry. 00 1. Built-in Work: As work progresses, build-in items specified under this and other sections of these specifications. Fill in solidly with masonry around built-in items. 1. Fill space between hollow metal frames, concrete walls and masonry solidly with mortar. 2. Where built-in items are to be embedded in cores of hollow masonry units, place a layer of metal lath in the joint below and rod mortar or grout into core. J. Cavity Walls: e�. 1. Keep cavity clean of mortar droppings during construction. Strike joints facing cavity flush. 2. Tie exterior wythe to back-up with horizontal joint reinforcing. Refer to "Section 4B - Masonry Accessories" for type of reinforcing required. 3. Provide weep holes in the exterior wythe of cavity walls located immediately above ledges and flashings, spaced at 2'-8" o.c. , unless otherwise shown. Weep holes shall be formed with cotton lines extending 2'-0" up into cavity. 4. Coordinate masonry work with installation of other work. K. Horizontal Joint Reinforcing: 1. Provide continuous horizontal joint reinforcing as shown and specified. Refer to "Section 4B - Masonry Accessories" for type of reinforcing required. Fully embed longitudinal side rods in mortar for their entire length with a minimum cover of 5/8" on exterior side of walls and 1/2" at other locations. Lap reinforcement a minimum of 6" at ends of units. Do not bridge control and No expansion joints with reinforcing except at wall openings. 2. Reinforce all walls with continuous horizontal joint reinforcing unless specifically noted or specified to be omitted. 3. Provide continuity at corners and wall intersections by use of prefabricated "L" and "T" sections. Cut and bend units as directed by the manufacturer for continuity at returns, offsets, column fireproofing, pipe enclosures and other special conditions. 4. Space continuous horizontal reinforcing at 16" o.c. vertically in all Ow locations, unless noted or shown otherwise. 5. Reinforce masonry openings greater than l'-0" wide, by adding extra horizontal joint reinforcing at approximately 8" above the lintel and 8" below the sill. ao Extend the reinforcing a minimum of 2'-0" beyond the jambs of the opening, bridging any control joint. L. Anchoring Masonry Work: 1. Provide anchoring devices of the type shown and/or specified under "Section s„ 4B - Masonry Accessories". 2. Anchor masonry to structural members where masonry abuts or faces such members to comply with the following: a. Provide an open space not less than 1/2" in width between masonry and "" structural member, unless otherwise shown. Keep open space free of mortar or other rigid materials. b. Anchor masonry to structural members with metal ties embedded in masonry no joints and attached to structure. Provide anchor with flexible tie sections, unless noted otherwise. c. Space anchors as shown, but not less than 1 tie per 2sf of surface area. 3. Anchor single wythe masonry veneer to backing with metal ties as follows: a. Anchor veneer to steel stud back-up walls with metal ties embedded in masonry joints and attached to structure at the steel studs. Provide anchors with flexible tie section, unless otherwise shown. ' ' Unit Masonry - 4C-3 damaged by frost or freezing. Part 2: PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS: See other applicable sections of Division 4 for required masonry materials. we Part 3: EXECUTION 3.1 INSPECTION: Examine the areas and conditions under which unit masonry work is to be installed and correct conditions detrimental to the proper and timely r completion of the work. Do not proceed with the work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 3.2 INSTALLATION, GENERAL: A. Thickness: Build walls and other masonry construction to the full thickness shown. Build single-wythe walls to the actual thickness of the masonry units, using units of nominal thickness shown or specified. w.r B. Build chases and recesses as shown or required for the work of other trades. Provide not less than 8" of masonry between chase or recess and jamb of openings, and between adjacent chases and/or recesses. C. Leave openings for equipment to be installed before completion of the masonry work. After installation of equipment, complete the masonry work to match work immediately adjacent to the opening. D. Cutting of masonry units shall be by skilled, experienced mechanics. Cut units as required to provide pattern shown and to fit adjoining work neatly. Use full size units without cutting where possible. Use motor-driven saws for cutting where hand cuts would detract from the appearance of the finished work. 3.3 LAYING MASONRY WALLS: A. Mortar Types: Unless otherwise indicated, use mortar as specified in "Section 4A - Masonry Mortar" and as follows: 1. For exterior work, use Type S mortar. a„ 2. For interior work, use Type N mortar 3. Use Type M mortar for structural requirements unless concrete is shown. B. Do not use mortar or grout which has begun to set or if more than 2 1/2 hours has elapsed since initial mixing. Retemper mortar during the 2 1/2 hour period no only as required to restore workability. C. Layout walls in advance for accurate spacing of surface bond patterns with uniform joint widths and to properly locate returns, offsets, openings and movement-type joints. Avoid the use of less than half-size units at corners, 'm jambs and wherever possible at other locations. D. Lay-up walls plumb and true to comply specified tolerances, with courses level, accurately spaced and coordinated with other work. 00 E. Pattern Bond: Lay all masonry in running bond with all vertical joints centered on units in courses above and below. F. Mortar Bedding and Jointing: 1. Lay solid masonry units with completely filled bed and head; butter ends with 00 sufficient mortar to fill head joints and shove into place. Do not slush head joints. 2. Lay hollow concrete masonry units with full mortar coverage on horizontal and vertical face shells. Bed webs in mortar in starting course on foundation walls and in all courses of piers, columns and pilasters, and where adjacent to cells or cavities to be reinforced or filled with grout or concrete, i.e. , door frames. 3. Maintain joint width shown, except for minor variations required to maintain bond alignment. If not shown, lay all work with 3/8" joints. 4. Cut joints flush for masonry walls which are to be concealed or to be covered with other materials, unless otherwise shown. 5. Tool all exposed joints slightly concave, unless otherwise shown. Rake out mortar in preparation for application of caulking or sealants where required. 6. Remove masonry units disturbed after laying; clean and reset in fresh mortar. Unit Masonry - 4C-2 �"? am e# SECTION 4C UNIT MASONRY PART 1: GENERAL so 1.1 SCOPE: Install all unit masonry as shown on the Drawings and/or herein specified. The requirements of this section apply to the materials specified elsewhere in Division 4. on 1.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE: A. Fire-Rated Masonry: Wherever a fire-resistance classification is shown or scheduled for unit masonry construction, comply with applicable requirements for go materials and installation established by the American Insurance Association and other governing authorities. B. Codes: Comply with the applicable requirements of governing authorities and codes for the types of masonry construction shown, including the National Concrete Masonry Association. C. Coordination: Review installation procedures and coordinate with other work that must be integrated with masonry. w D. Construction Tolerances: 1. Variation from Plumb: For lines and surfaces of columns, walls and arises do not exceed 1/4" in 10' , or 3/8' in a story height or 20' maximum, nor 1/2" in 40' or more. Variation of Linear Building Line: For position shown in plan and related portion of columns, walls and partitions, do not exceed 1/2" in any bay or 20' maximum, nor 3/4" in 40' or more. e 4. Variation in Cross-Sectional Dimensions: For columns and thickness of walls, from dimensions shown, do not exceed minus 1/4" nor plus 1/2". E. Job Mock-up: Prior to installation of masonry work, erect sample exterior wall panel mock-up using materials, bond and joint tooling shown or specified for s final work. Provide special features as directed for caulking and contiguous work. Build mock-up on site, as directed, of full thickness and approximately 4' x 4' , indicating the proposed range of color, texture and workmanship to be expected in the completed work. Obtain Architect's acceptance of visual qualities on of the mock-up before start of masonry work. Retain mock-up during construction as a standard for judging completed masonry work. Do not alter, move or destroy mock-up until work is completed. Provide mock-up panel for exterior brick on masonry work. 1.3 JOB CONDITIONS: A. Protect masonry materials during storage and construction from wetting by 4W rain, snow or ground water and from soilage or inter-mixture with earth or other materials. Do not use metal reinforcing or ties having loose rust or other coatings, including ice, which will reduce or destroy bond. B. In exposed work, do not use masonry units with chips, cracks, discoloration or other defects which might be visible or cause staining in the finished work. C. Protect partially completed masonry against weather, when work is in progress, by covering the top of walls with strong, waterproof, non-staining membrane. wr Extend membrane at least 2' down both sides of the walls and hold securely in place. D. Protect masonry from freezing when the temperature of the surrounding air is 40°F and falling. Heat materials and provide temporary protection of completed portions of masonry work. Comply with governing codes and with the "Construction and Protection Recommendations for Cold Weather Masonry Work" of the Technical Notes on Brick and Tile Construction by the Brick Institute of America (BIA) . E. Frozen Materials: Do not use frozen materials or materials mixed or coated with ice or frost. For masonry which is to be wetted, comply with BIA recommendations. F. Frozen Work: Do not build on frozen work. Remove and replace masonry work Unit Masonry - 4C-1 w SECTION 4B MASONRY ACCESSORIES PART 1: GENERAL 1.1 SCOPE: Furnish all masonry accessories to be installed under Section 4D "Unit Masonry". The extent of the masonry work is shown on the drawings. The types of masonry accessories required include, but are not limited to the following: A. Continuous horizontal wire reinforcing. B. Anchoring devices. C. Fabric flashing. D. Other masonry accessories as shown on the Drawings and as may be required. 1.2 SUBMITTALS: Manufacturer's Data, Masonry Accessories: submit 2 copies of manufacturer's specifications and installation instructions for each masonry accessory required. Include data substantiating that materials comply with specified requirements. 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE: Fire-rated Masonry: Wherever a fire-resistance �w classification is shown or scheduled for unit masonry construction (4-hr. , 3-hr., and similar designations) , provide accessories which have been tested and listed for the construction shown. PART 2: PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS " A. Continuous Wire Reinforcing for Masonry: 1. Provide welded wire units prefabricated in straight lengths of not less than 10' with matching corner ("L") and intersection ("T") units. Fabricate from cold-drawn steel wire complying with ASTM A82, with deformed or embossed continuous side rods and plain cross-rods with unit width of 1 1/2 " to 2" less than thickness of wall or partition. 2. Manufacturer's Data, Masonry Mortar & Grout: For information only, submit 2 copies of manufacturer's specifications and instructions for each manufactured product. Indicate that copy of each applicable instruction has been distributed to the Masonry Installer. B. Samples, Masonry Mortar: Submit samples of each type of masonry mortar, showing the range of color which can be expected in the finished work. Label samples to indicate type and amount of colorant used. Architect's review will be for color only. Compliance with all other requirements is the exclusive responsibility of the Contractor. 1.4 MATERIAL STORAGE: Store mortar and grout materials off the ground, under cover using tarpaulins, felt upper, or polyethylene sheets, and in a dry location. aw PART 2: PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS: A. Portland Cement: ASTM C150, Type 1, non-staining, without air entrainment and of natural color or white, to produce the required color of mortar. Color to be approved by Architect. Use Type III high-early strength as required for laying masonry in cold weather. B. Hydrated Lime: ASTM C207, Type S. C. Mortar Aggregates: ASTM C144 except for joints less than 1/4" use aggregate w graded with 100% passing the No. 16 sieve. D. Grout Aggregates: Meeting ASTM C404. E. Water: Clean, free of deleterious materials which would impair strength or bond. N 2.2 MORTAR & GROUT MI%ES: A. Do not lower the freezing point of mortar and/or grout by use of admixtures or anti-freeze agents. Do not use calcium chloride in mortar or grout. on B. Mortar for Unit Masonry: Comply with ASTM C270 Proportion Specifications, except limit materials to those specified herein, and limit cement/lime ratio (by volume) as follows: 1. Type S: Not more than 1/2 part lime per part of portland cement for exterior work. 2. Type N: Not more than 1 part lime per part of portland cement for interior work. C. Grout for Unit Masonry: Comply with ASTM C476 for coarse grout. 2.3 MORTAR WATERPROOFING: "a Masonry Mortar & Grout - 4A-1 its own weight and that of any construction loads placed upon it. H. Curing: Keep exposed surfaces of concrete moist for a period of at least seven (7) days after being deposited. In hot weather, thoroughly wet exposed concrete at least twice daily during the first week. All curing shall be in compliance with ACI specifications. I. Finish Concrete surfaces: Immediately upon removal of forms, point all form tie holes and other defects flush with surface. 1. Remove all fins, and fill all honeycombing, holes and depressions with 1:2 mortar on all exposed interior and exterior concrete surfaces. Before patching, .. thoroughly wet surrounding concrete and keep wet for several hours. Brush into the surface to be patched a grout of cement and water mixed to the consistency of paint. Carefully damp cure these patches. Cut back protrusions. 2. Rub exterior exposed concrete surfaces (other than floors, sidewalks, ramps, etc. ) with carborundum stone to present an evenly textured surface. (Plasti-coat is not permitted) . 3. All slabs including stair pan fill and compactor pads, except as noted, shall have a smooth steel trowel finish. 4. Exterior sidewalks, ramps and loading docks shall be steel troweled followed by brooming with a stiff bristle broom, with the brush marks running the short dimension of the surface. Once sidewalks are properly cured, apply exterior sealer according to manufacturer's directions. 5. Slabs to receive quarry tile, brick pavers and similar finishes shall be screeded and floated only, and depressed for the finish material. 6. Slabs to receive epoxy topping finish shall be steel troweled or finished as required by the Epoxy Floor Subcontractor to provide a first class product. J. Inserts and Attachments: Built into the concrete: collars, sleeves, or thimbles required for piping and writing, anchors, sockets or inserts for supporting piping, fixtures or attachments; nailing blocks and strips, bond ties and all other items required in the specifications or indicated on the Drawings. Inserts supporting mechanical fixtures shall be furnished and located by the trade who will use same. Dovetail slots shall be installed at 2' -0" on center wherever the brick shelf elevation is 1' -0" or more below the top of wall elevation. K. Concrete Floor Finish: Accurately screed topping or slab, as the case may be, to a uniform level surface; thoroughly compact with a mechanical or wood float and then steel trowel to a true, hard, dense, smooth surface. Steel troweling should not be started until the pressure of a finger ceases to make an indentation. 1. Finish concrete floor surfaces shall be true with a tolerance of 1/8" in . 10'-0". 2. Floor finish shall be Class 4, in accordance with ACI 302. L. Concrete Floor Hardener: Treat the surfaces of all concrete floors indicated with floor hardener, hereinbefore specified, in two (2) applications in strict *a° accordance with the manufacturer's directions. M. Slabs shall be true to within 1/8" in 10'-0" in any direction. To insure level floors, the laser screed method of installation must be used. N. All concrete shall be placed in dry excavations. Pump away any ground water as required to provide a dry excavation. O. For construction during winter, footings and floor slabs shall require protection from freezing temperatures at the bearing surfaces until the building is enclosed and heated. P. Elevated mezzanine slabs shall only be placed on structural steel framework which is at, or has been heated to a steady temperature of 75°F plus for at least 24 hours prior to placement and maintained at said temperature for a minimum of .s. seven (7) days after placement. Provide vented heaters and temporary enclosures as required. ■. END OF SECTION ow Cast-In-Place Concrete - 3A-6 .m sA 3. Place reinforcing for structural slabs in correct position as shown and hold go in position with precast blocks, polyethylene chairs, or other approved means. 4. Provide a clear cover from reinforcing steel to adjacent face of concrete surfaces as follows: an Bottom of footings = 3" Piers and walls = 1 1/2" (except 2" at #6 bars and larger) Slabs = 3/4" B. Convey concrete from the mixer to the place of final deposit by methods which will prevent the separation or loss of the materials. Equipment for placing concrete shall be of such size and design as to insure practically continuous flow of concrete at the deliver and without segregation of the materials. C. Concrete shall not be placed by means of open chutes, the combined length of which exceeds 30 feet, and shall not be allowed to drop freely through distances exceeding 8 feet or through closely spaced reinforcing bars, conduits, etc., which will tend to segregate materials. D. Deposit concrete as nearly as practicable in its final position to avoid segregation due to rehandling or flowing. No concrete that has partially hardened or been contaminated by foreign material shall be deposited on the work. E. Once concreting is started, it shall be carried on as a continuous operation until the placing of the panel, section or individual foundation is completed. The top surface shall be generally level. When construction joints are necessary, they shall be made in accordance with the following requirements. 1. Construction and control joints not shown shall be located as to least impair e the strength and appearance of the work. Location of joints to be subject to Architect's approval. 2. Construction joints in supported slabs shall be located near the point of minimum shear, unless otherwise designated on the Drawings or by the Architect. 3. Special care shall be taken in the preparation of all construction joints. 4. Except where otherwise specified, the surfaces of construction joints shall be prepared in a manner which will insure bonding with concrete or grout later placed on them. Wherever practical, construction joint surfaces shall be kept moist until new concrete or grout is placed. On all horizontal construction joints, all mortar on protruding coarse aggregate and all surface film shall be thoroughly removed from the bonding surface,which will be restored to a clean condition by means of vigorous scrubbing with wire brushes or by air and water jetting prior to final set of concrete. The placement of new concrete or grout upon construction joints shall be preceded by a thin coating (approximately 1/8 inch) of neat cement grout which shall be thoroughly scrubbed into the surface with wire brooms. Fresh concrete shall be placed against such surfaces before the grout has hardened or dried. An interval of at least 10 hours shall elapse between the time concrete is placed on either side of the construction joint. F. Place concrete in layers not over 12 inches deep, and thoroughly compact by means of vibrators, hand tamping and spacing; during the operation of placing, thoroughly work the concrete around reinforcement, embedded fixtures, pipes, conduits and into the corners of the forms so as to prevent interior voids, honeycomb, and the patching of concrete surfaces after forms are removed. Internal vibrators should be used to aid in the compaction of the concrete. Extreme care shall be used on thin sections and exposed concrete. G. The removal of forms shall be carried out in such a manner as to insure the complete safety of the structure. In no case shall shores or supporting members be removed before the concrete is set hard and has sufficient strength to safely carry its own weight and all additional loads upon it or about to be put upon it. Formwork for walls, sides of beams and slabs, and other surfaces not supporting the weight of the concrete may be removed as soon as concrete has hardened sufficiently to resist damage from form removal, insufficient curing, or cold temperature (generally 24 to 48 hours) . Formwork for beam, joists, slab soffits, and other surfaces that support the weight of concrete shall remain in place until concrete has reached 75 percent of its specified 28-day strength, except that after the concrete has reached its 7- day strength, the form facing material may be removed in sections so that no unsupported span exceeds 1/4 of the design span. Each section thus removed shall be securely reshored before removal of adjacent sections. Reshoring shall remain in place until concrete has reached its 28-day design strength and until the floor or roof above is capable of carrying on Cast-In-Place Concrete - 3A-5 2. Forms shall conform to the shape, lines, and dimensions of the member as called for on the Drawings. Joints in forms shall be made sufficiently tight to prevent leakage of concrete. B. Mixing: 1. Mix the concrete in quantities required for immediate use, and any which has developed initial set, or which does not reach the forms within 1 1/2 hours after " water has been added shall not be used. 2. Mix all concrete by machine, having a capacity of not less than "one bag batch" of concrete. 3. Ready-mixed concrete shall be mixed and delivered by the means and standards set forth by ASTM C-94. 4. When concrete is mixed in a truck mixer loaded to its maximum rated capacity, the number of revolutions of the drums or blades at mixing speed shall be not *� less than 70 nor more than 100. S. When a truck mixer or agitator is used for transportation, the concrete shall be delivered to the site and discharge completed within one (1) hour or before the drum has revolved a total of 300 revolutions, whichever comes first, after the introduction of mixing water. 6. Measurements: a. By Weight: Only weighing equipment approved by the Architect will be allowed. w. The equipment shall be platform-operated, and the weighing beam or dial shall be in full view of the operator. The equipment shall, when tested with test weights, be accurate within four tenths (0.4) of one percent. The equipment shall be capable of weighing to five (5) pounds and at least that part of the total load of sand and stone aggregate which is a fraction of one hundred (100) pounds, shall be indicated on a graduated beam or dial. Convenient means shall be provided for removal of excess material in case of overloading in order that the beam or dial scale may be brought to the proper balance. b. By Volume: In case aggregates are measured by volume, a definite system must be employed for insuring that not less than the specified amount of cement goes to each batch, and the fine and coarse aggregates shall be measured by means of mechanical measuring devices which are readily and accurately adjustable as to R" capacity. c. All Methods: The methods of measuring concrete materials shall be such that the proportion of water to cement can be accurately controlled during the progress of the work and easily checked at any time. 7. Mobility: The mobility (consistency or workability) of the concrete is mainly dependent upon the thoroughness of the mixing and the quantity of water contained in the mix. All unpaved areas more than 25'-0" from the building, shall be compacted to a minimum of 90% (Modified Proctor) density per ASTM D-1557-70 unless otherwise recommended by the Soils Engineer. One compaction test for each 500 square yards of surface area shall be taken as directed by the Soils Engineer. 3.03 SURFACE PREPARATION FOR PAVING A. Proof roll subbase using approved compacting vehicle to check for unstable areas and areas requiring additional compaction. Do not begin paving work until deficient subbase areas have been corrected and are ready to receive paving. 1. Prime Coat: Apply over compacted subgrade. 2 . Submit Certification of Compliance for all materials specified to comply with referenced standards. 1. 05 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS A. Apply prime and tack coats when ambient temperature is above 50°F, and when temperature has not been below 35°F, for 12 hours immediately prior to application. After the 30-day establishment maintenance period, the Contractor shall request Tenant's Engineer, for an inspection to determine whether the plant material is acceptable. E. The Owner's maintenance shall begin subsequent to the 30-day establishment maintenance period. F. Guarantee: 1. The Contractor and landlord shall guarantee all plants and materials to be in good, healthy, flourishing and acceptable condition, for a period of one year beginning at the end of the 30-day establishment period. All plants shall be sprayed with an antidesiccant. The antidesiccant shall be applied according to the manufacturer's directions to thoroughly cover all above-ground parts. The time of application shall be as follows, unless otherwise approved: Evergreen: Apply within ten (10) days following the planting. Deciduous: Spring Planting -- Apply when leaves have reached at least seventy-five percent (75%) of mature size. Fall Planting -- Apply in October or November when the temperature is 40°F or over. C. All dead and rejected plants shall be promptly removed from the job by the Contractor and replaced at no cost to the Owner. D. Settled plants shall be reset to proper grade and position, planting saucer restored and dead material removed. Stakes and wire shall be tightened and repaired. Defective work shall be corrected as soon as possible after it becomes apparent and weather and season permit. , 3 . 04 SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION INSPECTION, ACCEPTANCE, MAINTENANCE AND GUARANTEE A. The Tenant's Engineer shall inspect all work shown on the drawings and as specified for substantial completion upon written request of the Contractor. The written request shall be received at least 10 calendar days before the anticipated date of inspection. B. Upon completion and reinspection of all repairs or renewals necessary in the judgement of Tenant's Engineer, he shall certify in writing to the Owner, tenant, and the Contractor as to the substantial '" completion of the work. C. The Contractor's establishment period of maintenance shall begin on the date of acceptance of substantial completion and continue for a period of 30 days. �w SUPER STOP & SHOP Page 2-36 Northhampton, MA 3. 02 PLANTING COORDINATION MW A. The Contractor shall request that a Landscape Architect select and tag stock to be planted. This request shall be made 30 days prior to the date on which stock selections are to be made. The Contractor shall supply the necessary tags or seals which shall be durable and capable of accepting weather-resistant ink or an embossed process. The tags or seals shall be attached directly and securely to each selected plant. B. The Contractor shall be responsible for accepting the plant material delivered by the nursery supplier and shall notify Stop & Shop of the date of delivery to allow an on-site inspection of the plant material prior to unloading. C. The Contractor shall inform Tenant and the Architect when planting will commence. D. Failure to notify Tenant or the Architect in advance, in order to arrange proper scheduling, may result in loss of time or removal of any plant or plants not installed as specified or directed. 3. 03 CONTRACTOR'S MAINTENANCE OF PLANT MATERIALS A. Maintenance of planting shall begin immediately after each plant is planted and shall continue until the acceptance of the work at Substantial Completion Inspection. Maintenance of planting shall consist of keeping the plants in a healthy growing condition by watering, weeding, cultivating, pruning, spraying with insecticides and herbicides for disease and weed control, tightening of guys, remulching, applying approved antidesiccant as necessary, all of which is to insure that well established plants and materials shall have been installed as specified. SUPER STOP & SHOP Page 2-35 Northhampton, MA 4M D. Planting: am 1. The plants shall be planted in the center of the holes and at the same depth as they previously "° grew. Enough backfill mixture shall be used to bring the surfaces to finish grade when settled. Trees shall be staked, wrapped and mulched as ow shown on the drawings. Plants shall be flooded with water twice within the first 24 hours of time of planting, and any material settlement corrected at this time. E. Pruning New Plants: 1. Each tree and shrub shall be pruned in accordance with American Nurserymen Association Standards to preserve the natural character of the plant. F. Drainage: 1. Where an impervious stratum of soil is encountered during the excavation of plant pits or beds, all such soil to a depth as approved shall be removed and backfilled with acceptable material. The .. plant may be relocated only by approval of the Tenant. a. Tenant's engineer shall select three tree pits for tree pit drainage testing. The contractor shall fill these tree pits with water. Any water left in the tree pits after a 24-hour period, shall be brought to the Engineer's attention. b. All areas to be planted are to be left unpaved, with a soil compaction not to exceed 90% in these areas. All plant areas are to be designated on site with markings to avoid pavement placement, excessive compaction or soils pollution. C. Cleanup: After completion of all work, all debris, rubbish and surplus materials shall be removed from the site. The site shall be left clean, presentable, and to the satisfaction of Tenant's engineer. �s SUPER STOP & SHOP Page 2-34 Northhampton, MA directed by the Engineer. 2. Evergreen plants may be planted in the spring prior to new growth appearing, approximately March 15 through June 1, and in the fall, any time between September 15 and November 30, and when ground is not frozen. 3. Planting season dates may be adjusted pending location of store. 4. If the construction completion date prohibits in-season planting, the Contractor shall complete his work within the project date and prepare himself for out-of-season planting, including wilt-proofing and extra watering. Plant guarantee periods remain as stated below. No frozen ground planting is permitted. C. Tree Pit Excavations: 1. Excavate tree pits to the depths required by the details on the site and planting plans. Entire island area must be free of pavement. A e. SUPER STOP & SHOP Page 2-33 .� Northhampton, MA the Massachusetts DPW Standard Specifications. Curb shall be manufactured 18" deep, 6" thick at the top and 7" at the bottom with front vertical face. Exposed arises shall be chamfered. B. The trench for the curb shall be excavated to a width of 18". The bottom of the trench shall be a depth of 24". C. The curb shall be placed in a compacted gravel bedding having a minimum depth of 6" under the curb, and stiffened with concrete backing. D. Set curbing to the required line and grade filling all spaces under and sides of the curb with compacted gravel. Curb shall be batted together. E. The joints of the curb (both front and back) shall not be mortared. F. Curbs shall be free of honeycombing and exposed surfaces shall be free of form marks. G. Note some curb is on a radius, others straight. All radius portions of curbing shall be poured in place. H. At Tenant's option, a similar size of curb cast in place will also be acceptable. In such cases, curb shall be in 6' to 10 ' uniform lengths and shall comply with applicable Mass. DPW Specifications. PART 3 EXECUTION 3 . 01 METHODS A. Personnel: 1. The planting shall be performed by personnel familiar with the accepted procedure of planting, and under the constant supervision of a qualified foreman. B. Planting Season: 1. Deciduous plants shall be planted only when „ dormant and when ground is not frozen, that is, before leaves appear in the spring and subsequent to their loss in the fall, unless otherwise 40 SUPER STOP & SHOP Page 2-32 Northhampton, MA 2.03 PLANT MATERIAL: A. The Contractor shall furnish and plant all plants shown on the drawings, as specified, and in quantities as listed on the PLANT LIST. No substitutions will be permitted unless approved by Tenant. All plants shall be nursery grown. B. Plants shall be in accordance with the current "American Association for Nursery Stock" as published by the American Association of Nurserymen. C. All plants must be moved with the root systems as solid units with balls of earth firmly wrapped with burlap. No plant shall be accepted when the ball of earth surrounding its roots has been badly cracked or broken before planting. All plants shall be freshly dug. All plants that cannot be planted at once must be heeled-in by setting in the ground, and covering the balls with soil and then watering. 2.04 MATERIALS FOR PLANT PROTECTION: A. Stakes shall be 2-inch by 2-inch, of white or red cedar or other approved material, unpainted, 10 ' long. B. Wire for staking trees shall be pliable, No. 12 gage galvanized annealed steel. C. Hose for covering wire shall be new or used two-ply reinforced rubber garden hose not less than 1/2" inside diameter, black in color. D. Wrapping material shall be first quality, heavy waterproof paper 30-30-30 Krinkle Craft or equal in 4" wide strips. E. Antidesiccant: Antidesiccant shall be emulsions or other materials which will provide a protective film over plant surfaces, permeable enough to permit transpiration. Antidesiccant shall be wilt-proof or equal and shall be applied at the rates recommended by the manufacturer. 2. 05 PRECAST OR CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE CURBS: A. Precast concrete curb shall consist of air entrained Class D cement and conform with Section M, 4.02. 14 of ..R SUPER STOP & SHOP Page 2-31 Northhampton, MA B. Peat: The material shall be natural humus, reed peat or sedge peat. It shall be free from excessive amounts of zinc, low in wood content, free from hard lumps and , in a shredded or granular form. According to the methods of testing of A.O.A.C. in effect on the date of planting start, the acidity range shall be approximately 5.5 pH to 7.6 pH and the organic matter shall be not less than 85% as determined by loss on ignition. The minimum water absorbing ability shall be 200% by weight on an oven-dry basis. • C. Fertilizer: Shall be commercial fertilizer 5-10-5 fertilizer mixture. It shall be delivered at the site , in the original sealed containers. D. Water: Water used in this work will be furnished by the Landlord and will be suitable for plants and free from oil, acids, alkali, salt and other substances harmful to plant life. Hose and other water equipment required for the work shall be furnished by the Contractor. E. Limestone: For soil pH adjustment shall be ground limestone having a minimum total neutralizing value of 88% calcium carbonate equivalence. A minimum of 90% shall pass the 20 mesh sieve and a minimum of 60% shall pass the 100 mesh sieve. F. Agricultural Sulphur: For soil pH adjustment shall meet the material requirements of the soils testing agency. G. Mulch: Wood bark mulch for-mulching plants may be either hardwood or softwood chips as produced by any standard chipping machine. No leaves, young green growth, branches, twigs 2" or less in diameter, wood shavings, sawdust or foreign material such as stones, • etc. , shall be mixed with the mulch. Mulch shall not exceed 1" in greatest dimension. 2 . 02 PLANT BACKFILL MIXTURE: A. The plant backfill mixture shall consist of 75% amended topsoil and 25% peat by volume, thoroughly mixed together. Report should contain recommendations on fertilizers and necessary soil additives to achieve the best results for the variety of plants specified. Qualities of soil additives to be used shall be based on this report. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2. 01 SOILS: A. Topsoil: Fertile, friable, natural topsoil typical of the cultivated topsoils of the locality; free of stumps, roots, stiff clay, stones larger than 1" in diameter, noxious weeds, sticks, brush, or litter. Material must be reasonably well drained, capable of supporting plant growth and must not contain toxic amounts of either acid or alkaline elements. Topsoil shall be from one source only. Extend braces from each terminal post and gate posts to the first adjacent line post. Extension Arms: Pressed steel or malleable iron base with pressed steel arms at 450 angle, slotted to carry three evenly spaced strands of barbed wire. The top strand is to be located approximately 12" above the height of fence fabric. H. Gate Frames: 2" O.D. pipe weighing not less than 2.72 pounds per lineal foot. All drive gates to be equipped with a positive type latching device with provisions for padlocking. Trenches shall be cut to correct grade, and bell holes shall be excavated to insure the pipes bearing for their entire length upon the lower third of the pipe. If rock is encountered, it shall be excavated to a depth of 3" below the bottom of the pipe and the space filled with well-taped sand and pea gravel. If it is necessary to lay pipe on fill, the fill shall be compacted in a manner approved by the Soils Engineer. Do not backfill until the installation has been inspected, tested, and approved. Install pipe promptly after excavation to keep the excavation open for as short a time as possible. Construct pipe lines of full length sections of pipe. The approved sample shall become the standard of the material furnished under , this Contract. 3.02 MATERIALS A. Materials shall meet the requirements of the following: 1. Lightweight concrete fill: The material shall meet the property requirements specified in Section 3.02B. 2. Cement: The Portland cement shall comply with ASTM C150, Type I, II or III. Other cementitious materials shall be per the Foaming Agent Supplier's recommendations. The mix shall be designed by the 4W Lightweight Concrete Fill Manufacturer. 3. Water: Use potable water free from deleterious amounts of alkali, acid, or organic matter which would adversely affect the setting or strength of the lightweight concrete fill. 4. Admixtures: Admixtures including foaming agents may be used when specifically recommended by the Foaming Agent Supplier. The foaming agent shall conform to the requirements of ASTM C-869' and shall be subject to the approval of the Engineer. SUPPLEMENT TO ARTICLE 13 13 . 8. 1 No signs or advertisements of any kind, other than any required by law will be allowed on the premises unless prior -written consent has been obtained from R2D Corp. . 13 . 8. 2 No mention shall be made of the Owner, R2D Corp. .. or Architect in any news release, advertising or articles in any publication relating to this Contract without prior approval of the Copy and written consent by the Owner, R2D Corp. and Architect. Workmen's Compensation Insurance and Employer's Liability Insurance, including Disability Benefit acts in accordance with the laws of Connecticut and in no even less than $500, 000. 2 . Comprehensive Public Liability Insurance (Comprehensive General, Comprehensive �w Automobile, and Excess or "Umbrella" Liability) : $1, 000,000 for any one person and $2, 000, 000 for any one accident or occurrence, for personal injury including death, and $1, 000,000 for any one accident or occurrence for damage to property. Such insurance shall include coverage for: A. Explosion, Collapse, Structural Damage, Undermining, Damage to Existing Property, Underground Damage, Environmental Damage. 3 . Subcontractor's Protective Liability (Contingent Liability) Insurance with the same limits and provisions as above, covering operations of all subcontractors. r. 4 . Subcontractor's or sub-subcontractors Insurance: The Subcontractor shall either 1) require each of his subcontractors to procure and maintain during the term of the subcontract Workmen's Compensation Insurance, Subcontractor's Comprehensive General Liability, Automobile Liability and Property Damage Liability Insurance of the type and in the same amounts as specified above, or 2) insure the activities of subcontractors in his own policy. w, 5. Automobile Liability Insurance with limits of not less than $500, 000 for any one person and $1, 000, 000 for any one accident or occurrence for bodily injury including death, and $250, 000 for property damage, covering owned vehicles, hired vehicles, and other non-owned vehicles used in the performance of -the work. 6. Certificates of Insurance required by Subparagraph 11. 1.4 shall include certificates of Subcontractor's Insurances. The Certificate shall stipulate that no coverage afforded under the policies can be changed or cancelled until at lease thirty (30) days prior written notice has been given to the Owner, and that certificates of renewals shall be delivered to the Owner at least fifteen (15) days prior to the expiration of the policies. Certificates of �e Rider B Page 10 SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 9.9 9.9 .4 The Owner reserves the right at all time to deliver, place, store and install equipment and furnishing as the Work progresses, and to occupy portions of the building prior to substantial completion of the Contract. Such preliminary occupancy shall not be construed as an acceptance of such portions of the building, and shall not relieve the Subcontractor of any of his Contract obligations. The Owner shall have the right to accept a portion or portions of building, if substantially complete and deemed in Owner's best interest. 9. 9.5 At substantial completion the retainer shall be reduced to 5% payable within seven (7) days of receipt of payment to the Contractor from the .. Owner, the remaining Five percent (5%) shall be due 60 days after the date of Final Completion (as distinct from Substantial Completion) , providing all obligations of the Contract have been fully performed, that is providing all punch list items have been satisfactorily ., completed and so certified by Architect. 9 .9. 6 Prior to final payment, Subcontractor' s Affidavit of Payment of Debts and Claims and Affidavit of Release of Liens shall be submitted in the form of AIA Documents G706 and G706A. Subcontractor shall provide a bond to cover * normal one year guarantee of work from date of Substantial Completion if final payment is made prior to end of guarantee period. F. ARTICLE 10 SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 10.2 10.2 . 2 The Subcontractor shall at all time comply with the requirements of the OSHA safety standards published by the Occupational Safety and Health �^ Administration, and Federal, State and Local Labor and Equal Employment laws and regulations and City and State Building Codes and requirements. ARTICLE 11 no SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 11. 1 11. 1. 1 The insurance required by subparagraph 11 . 1. 1 shall be written for not less than the following am limits of liability, or required by law, whichever is greater, and shall include contractual Liability Insurance applicable to .o the Subcontractor's obligations under Paragraph 4 . 18 . ARTICLE 9 SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 9. 3 9.3.4 Application for payments shall not be made more often than once every three weeks on or before the date to be agreed upon between R2D Corp. and Subcontractor. 9.3.5 Application for payments shall be made in the form of AIA Document No. G702 and G702A, or in a similar and equal form as approved by R2D Corp. . 9. 3.6 Each application for payment shall be accompanied by the Subcontractor's Affidavit of Payment of Debts and Claims through the date of preceding payment, in the form of AIA Document No. G706. Affidavit of Payment from each # Subcontractor through date of preceding payment shall include lien release for amounts previously paid. 9.3 .7 Unless otherwise set forth in the Agreement, monthly progress payments shall equal Ninety percent (90%) of the value of labor and M„ materials incorporated in the work and of materials suitably stored at the Site, as estimated by the Architect, less the aggregate of previous payments. - 9. 3.8 In determining the value of materials delivered and suitably stored on-site that are to be reflected in any progress payment, only material shall be included that has been previously approved by R2D Corp. for storage and is necessary and pertinent to the stage of construction then in progress, or to be incorporated within 21 days following the date of application for payment. SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 9 . 4 9 .4 . 1. 1 In accordance with Subparagraphs 9.4 . 1 and 9.4 .2 , the Architect may withhold payments on account of unsatisfactory prosecution of the work and upon reasonable indication that the � work will not be completed on or before the stipulated completion date and per previously agreed upon progress schedule. SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 9. 8 9 . 8.4 Work shall be substantially complete on or before the date of Substantial Completion of the work as defined in Paragraph 9. 8. 1. 4r an Rider B Page 8 am legal action may be made later than thirty (30) days after the date on which the requesting *. party received the decision or the passage of the sixty (60) day period, whichever comes first. 4.5. 6 No arbitration or court proceeding may be commenced by either party later than one year following substantial completion of the Project. Substantial completion shall be defined in Paragraph 4 .3. 4 . 5.7 Any arbitration or court proceeding held in accordance with this section shall be determined in accordance with Connecticut law and rules of AAA except that in such proceedings rules of practice, procedure, and admissability of evidence be applicable. In any award made by Arbitrators, the validity of such award shall be contingent upon the arbitrators rendering a written decision setting forth a statement of the facts found and the law applied to such facts as the basis for such award. 4 . 5.8 Unless otherwise agreed to in writing, the Subcontractor shall carry on the Work and maintain its progress during any arbitration or court proceeding. 4 .5. 9 In the event of an arbitration or court proceeding the party commencing such action shall pay to the opposing party a portion of the defense costs (including expert witness fees, attorney's fees, court costs and/or fees of the American Arbitration Association and any other reasonable defense costs which may be incurred) which bear the same relation to the total defense costs as the dollar amount of the claims or disputes which were not sustained bears to .. the total dollar amount of the claims or disputes which were brought. This applies to M/E work above and at penetrating ceilings, fascias, soffits, partitions, cabinetry, etc. Coordinated drawings shall be at a large scale (3/8" or 1/2" - 1 '-0" or larger) . Not only required `o clearances, hanging spaces, actual ceiling construction or partition construction shall be shown and dimensioned, but also layout of .w ceiling, dropped ceilings, cornices, lighting and the like. Where partition layout, tile base and trim, partition thickness, radii, etc. , are Am interrelated and tie into ceiling layout, or other related work, this shall be fully detailed on coordination drawings, even if . it involves cooperation and coordination between two N separate Subcontractors. 3 .12 . 13 The Subcontractor shall submit to the Architect ..�, coordination drawings noted above and shop drawings and specified samples required in sufficient time to enable him to retain same for at least ten (10) working days, exclusive of transmittal time, for each review or approval. 3 .12.14 The Architect's review of the Subcontractor's drawings shall be given as assistance to the Subcontractor in interpreting the requirements of the Contract Documents, and in no way shall it relieve the Subcontractor of any responsibilities under this Contract. Fabrication, erection; setting, or other work performed in advance of the receipt of "Approved" or "Approved as Noted" drawings shall be done entirely at the Subcontractor's risk. SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 3 . 14 3 . 14 . 3 The Subcontractor shall not overload or permit any part of structure to be subjected to a loading that might be excessive and endanger it and any personnel ' s safety. Subcontractor shall provide temporary shoring, planking and other means as necessary to distribute temporary construction loads on floors or roof during construction and during the delivery, distribution and stockpiling of materials. Rider B Page 5 5. The dates proposed for the submission and approval of shop drawings for each trade or subdivisions of the Work. 6. Other items of importance to the overall completion of the Project. Interface of related Work by other Subcontractors. 7 . The schedule shall conform to starting and completion dates stipulated in Article 3 of the Agreement Between Owner and Subcontractor. 3.10. 3 The approved progress schedule shall be strictly adhered to by the Subcontractor. If the Subcontractor should fail to adhere to the approved schedule, he shall at his sole cost and expense, promptly adopt such other or additional means and methods of construction including additional labor, material, equipment, services and work shifts as will make up for the time lost, and shall submit a revised progress schedule indicating completion of Work within the time set forth in the Contract or as the same may be extended. 3 .10.4 The progress schedule and each revision thereof shall be coordinated with other Subcontractors, and trades and subcontractors of this Contract, and their willingness and ability to conform with the schedule shall be certified by the .A► Subcontractor. 3 . 10.5 A Bar Graph shall be used. The Subcontractor shall furnish the Owner and R2D Corp. with sufficient copies of the original schedule and revised schedules as requested in the form and detail approved by R2D Corp. . SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 3 . 11 3 . 11. 2 The "Record" set of "Field" set of Drawings and Specifications shall be neatly and accurately maintained up to date at all times. Changes of every type and nature shall be recorded by the subcontractor on the drawings or noted in the Specifications in the form of typewritten memoranda inserted before each Section, listing materials and equipment which are actually furnished and installed. The information given in the Specifications shall include the manufacturer's and supplier's names and address, brand name, size and style, model or catalog number and all other information necessary to identify each item completely as installed. M IM Rider B Page 4 .. 3 .5.4 The furnishing of the above guarantee, and other special guarantees required by the Contract 'ow Documents, shall be a condition precedent to final payment. wo 3.5.5 Substitutions shall be made only upon the written approval of R2D Corp. . In all cases, R2D Corp. shall be the sole judge as to whether a proposed product is to be approved, and the IM Subcontractor shall have the burden of provide that substitutions proposed are equal to the items specified, to the satisfaction of R2D Am Corp. . 3 . 5. 6 In making a determination, R2D Corp. may establish such criteria as he may deem reasonable and proper that the proposed product must meet in order for it to be approved. 3.5.7 The Subcontractor shall have and make no claim for an extension of time or for damages by reason of the time taken by the Subcontractor or by reason of R2D Corp. 's failure to approve a product proposed by the Subcontractor. SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 3 .7 .� 3 .7. 1 The Subcontractor shall obtain and furnish to the Owner a bona fide Certificate of Occupancy upon Subtantial Completion of the work. SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 3 . 10 3 . 10. 1 The Subcontractor shall prepare and submit a progress schedule within two weeks after signing the Contract, for R2D Corp. 's and Owner's approval. The schedule shall contain the following: 1. The proposed dates for the start and completion of each of the various operations to be performed under this Contract, including each trade or subdivisions of the Work. 2 . The sequence and interrelationship of each of these operations with others, allowing adequate time for coordination. 3 . The estimated time for fabrication and delivery of materials and equipment required for the Work after approval of Shop Drawings. .. 4 . The proposed dates of award for each subcontracted trade or subdivisions of the Work. ,� e'"' ' Rider B Page 3 o .o responsibility between the various trades, and shall in no even operate to make R2D Corp. or the Architect an arbiter to establish such limits or responsibilities. am 1.2. 10 The Subcontractor is specifically cautioned that in the Specification Sections, the "Scope" or m■ "Work Included" portion is general, and in no way limits or qualifies the requirements of the Contract. 1.2 .11 The Subcontractor, before proceeding with the Work, shall check carefully lines and levels given on Drawings with the existing lines and levels, and shall advise R2D Corp. in writing of any discrepancies. B. ARTICLE 2 SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 2 .2 2.2.5 Change the wording of this paragraph to read as follows: "The Owner will furnish the Subcontractor twelve sets of reproducible Drawings and twelve sets of Specifications without charge. Subcontractor shall make, at his own expense, the necessary prints he and his subcontractors and suppliers and others require am to perform the- Work. " C. ARTICLE 3 a* SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 3 . 3 3. 3 . 1 The Subcontractor shall coordinate the operations, limits and responsibilities of his subcontractors, and he shall assure that cooperation between them and satisfactory progress is maintained. SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 3 .5 3 .5.2 Guarantees from Subcontractor shall be supported by individual guarantees from each trade or m'" subcontractor and manufacturer or supplier covering work performed and material and equipment. 3 . 5. 3 Any material, fixture, appliance, piece of equipment or other item requiring excessive servicing during the guarantee period, in the opinion of the Architect, will be considered defective, and shall be made good, replaced and/or corrected, to the satisfaction of the Architect and Owner, under the terms of this paragraph. w ,. Rider B Page 2 .W 1.1. 11 The term "provide" shall be taken to mean and include both furnishing and installing, oft including delivery, uncrating, connecting up, anchoring in place, complete and ready for intended use. SUPPLEMENT TO PARAGRAPH 1.2 1.2.5 Should any contradiction, ambiguity, error or inconsistency appear in or between any of the Contract Documents, the Subcontractor shall, before proceeding with the Work in question, notify R2D Corp. and request an interpretation. In no case shall he proceed with the affected Work until advised by R2D Corp. . 1.2. 6 If the Subcontractor fails to make a request for interpretation of errors, discrepancies or conflicts in the Drawings or Specifications no excuse will be accepted for failure to carry our the Work in a satisfactory manner, as interpreted by R2D Corp. . In all cases, the Subcontractor will be deemed to have estimated on the highest quality materials and most expensive way of doing Work unless he has asked , for and obtained written decision as to which methods or materials will be required. 1.2 .7 Each and every trade or subcontractor will be deemed to have familiarized himself with all Drawings of this project, including Architectural, Sprinkler, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical Work, so as to avoid errors, omissions, and misinterpretations. No additional compensation will be authorized for , alleged errors, omissions and misinterpretations, whether they are a result of failure to observe this requirement or not. 1.2 .8 Work shall be done as expeditiously as possible. If the Subcontractor falls behind schedule in the performance of the Work, R2D • Corp. reserves the right to designate the ordering which the Subcontractor shall proceed with any portions of the Work, until he establishes that he is once again on schedule. 1.2 . 9 The organization of the Specifications into Division, Sections and other subdivisions is AM based upon the CSI Uniform System, and is intended solely to facilitate reference to the various requirements of the Contract.
