Minutes of Meeting # 6 – April 19, 2012

New Business:
Item Description / Discussion
1.4 Schedule and Permitting:
• Plans have been broadcast through dropbox. No revised set anticipated as questions can be
handled by SK-drawings and Addenda.
• Numbers anticipated on the 26th. Team to review bids on 5/3 meeting.
• Requirements for permit:
o Drawings - TEAM
Permit set: 24x36 stamped and scanned. Tom requested that these be
done ASAP. (Later: in progress)
Electronic for Blg. Inspector (wet stamped scans)
11x17 set for Fire Department
o Fire protection narrative- Dino
o Code summary and chapter 13 energy – KFA (more extensive version).
o Ch. 17 structural tests & inspections- Ryan
o AAB report including waivers- KFA
o Affidavits – from arch and various disciplines - TEAM
• Building Inspector Items:
o Water fountain at third floor: Lou said to send email and he will forward to
plumbing inspector. (later: done)
1.5 Long lead time item – Lift-
• Include phone direct to Campus Security. Dino to add.
• Garavanta is generally preferred , but Charlie okay with ThyssenKrupp is there is a better
lead time and all other things being equal.
• Laura pointed out that lift wall was thickened to deal with brick shelf (double wall above to
bear to inside on concrete).
• Location of concrete dependent on existing sheathing and wall shaft.
• Wall thickness needed for door frames: Jim estimates 5 ¼” – 5/1/2” existing sheathing to
wall finish. Plus 1.25 for FC layers = 6.75 inches.
1.6 Long lead time item – Windows
• Color clarification: all trim to match the pre-painted window color.
• Mock-up clarification: Laura suggested splayed window at second level of curved stair.
• Cavity, sill and head insulation: lf will change by addendum to insulator.
1.7 Long lead time item – MEP items (not discussed)
• Fan Coils and ERV: typically 8-10 weeks. Dino said there are now 3 manufacturers making
bidding and lead times better.
• Light Fixtures:
• Plumbing Fixtures:
1.7a Long lead time item – Slate
• Roger confirmed that double tear off was included.
• Clarified that all roof insulation being done from inside, except for sec’y office.
• Temporary protection of Roofing may still need some clarification. LF pointed to Section
07300, 3.01, C, 4.
1.7b Long lead items – Next round of buy outs
• Tom says he will start a list, including hardware. Corbin has been “awful”
1.8 What is needed from design team?
• Site drawings: KFA will resubmit to Charlie. (later: done)
• Structural (see below)
1.9 Specification clarifications
• Signage: LF provided simple spec. Drawings call for remove and reinstall existing directory.
1.11 Early Work:
• Tom is mapping out a schedule…
• IT data to Clark to be flagged. Dino to confirm.
• Can steam be shut off early? Possibly. What about Clark Hall? DEino says Dewey can be
isolated if valve holds.
2.1 Insulation:
• Laura included some options depending on the assembly.
3.2 Structural:
• Dino to send loading requirements for mechanical equipment in attic. Dino said this was
done.
• Replacement of brick flooring in basement: Roger has asked for alternate pricing.
• Stair ceiling: Jim opened up floor – has Ryan checked it?
3.4 • Chimney caps and venting: Including liner in addendum 1. Dino says no induced draft
required.
3.5 Mechanical Coordination:
• No useful under slab sanitary lines. Cut slab for new lines and ejector. LF to coordinate for
demo addendum
• Third Floor Fan Coil Locations: reviewed, one moved
• Toilets: Replacing “flush tanks”: Nicole and Charlie resolved to stay with flush tanks. Will
change before submittal is demo work shows pipes are okay.
4.1 Interiors / Colors /Decorative Light Fixtures:
• Decorative lights-Lorin looking at colors.
• Can shelving in Study change?
• Laura and Charlie will schedule color / finish / lighting meeting later with faculty.
5.1 Electrical Coordination:
• Conference Room: revise to have dimmable LED cans. No sconces.
5.2 Bid Questions: Reviewed process
• Roger will send questions to entire team as them come in. Team will answer to LF (to
confirm) and LF will forward to Roger.
• Addenda 1 scheduled for Tuesday the 24th.
NEW BUSINESS
6.1 As-builts: Tom (?) requested AutoCad files for as-builts. Charlie also request latest “simplified
drawings in dwg format for Cheryl.
