Subject: Overnight cot program
Dear Ms. Mueller,
The inspection that was conducted at 123 Hawley Street on Friday October 16 revealed
several conditions that must be corrected before the cot program may open on Nov 1. The
Department of Fire Services Code Compliance Officer and Northampton Fire Chief and I
agree that the following items must be corrected, there are:
a. Smoke detectors shall be hardwired and interconnected and tied into
your present central system and alarm must meet national decibel sound
requirement. One smoke detector shall be placed at bottom of basement
stairs.
b. Exits signs placed as per our discussion (3).
c. Dryer vent (plastic) replaced with flexible metal duct material.
d. The area in basement directly below shelter must have ceiling
sheetrocked with 5/8" fire code sheetrock or a rated assembly providing
a one hour rating and all penetrations sealed.
e. 3 - 10 lb. fire extinguishers mounted and identified at locations specified
by fire department.
f. "NO Smoking" signs placed within facility.
If you have further questions please contact me a 597-1240.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Anthony Patillo
