General Contractor will ensure there is an appropriate amount of topsoil in areas to be planted. PART 3- CONCRETE 3.01 Footings A. Provide reinforced concrete footings as indicated on structural drawings. Provide footing drains around the perimeter of the new building and around the remodeled connected cottage if none exists. 3.02 Foundation Walls A. Provide reinforced concrete foundation walls as indicated on structural drawings. Provide thicker wall and/or additional reinforcing where required by Mass. Building Code. Provide underground installation of all utilities to house and connect to city services. Use existing water and sewer lines New gas service by Gas company not by contractor 2.02 Electrical,Cable Television,and Telephone Services A. Provide complete installation from utility line to new structure. Provide positive drainage away from house on all sides. B. Footing Drains ADS perforated pipe.Curtain Drains and Under Slab Drains: 4" SDR/PVC pipe, ASTM D1785 Sched. 35,solid and perforated. Bed(12" deep)and surround(at 12" radius) perforated drains with crushed stone. Cover top of perforated pipe with 18" strip of filter fabric. C. Roof Leader Drainage: Independent system of Non-Perforated Sched 35 Drain pipe, not connected to footing drainage system. Or follow code for roof rainwater disposal. 2.04 Excavation,Backfill and Finish Grading A. Excavate foundation area as required by drawings,storing loam and subgrade material separately. Prepare site for foundation. Stockpile loam in a location acceptable to the Owners' representative, away from trees and shrubs to be saved if applicable. B. Backfill foundation wall perimeter after first floor framing and subflooring is in place. Use stone as indicated for foundation perimeter wherever footing drains are provided. C. Backfill under slabs on grade with stone as indicated on structural drawings. D. Backfill with site materials except where required for drainage. Remove excess material. Fill in 6" lifts and compact to 95% under slabs. Correct all backfill,if required,after settling. Page 4 • 1.08 Permits and Fees A. Arrange for and pay for Building Permit and all other permits and fees. 1.09 Warranties A. Guarantee all materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date of Substantial Completion. Provide original copies of written manufacturer's warranties to Owner as prerequisite to final payment. 1.10 Cleaning A. Provide periodic rubbish removal,and dispose of all materials legally.
