WHEREAS, the Northampton Office of Planning and Development submitted an application for
Community Preservation Act funding for rehabilitation to the ,arch bridge over
Beaver Brook..
WHEREAS, the project . advances . I the.goal.s of the Open Space Recreation and' -Use Trail
and d the Sustainable Northampton Plan, and the N6rthampton Plan.
NVEEREAS, repair and rehabilitation are needed to ensure that it is safe for pedestrians and
'bicycles and to ensure that this historic structure remains for future generations.
WHEREAS, the project serves a public'purp6se by preserving a structure of important historic
significance.

WHEREAS, the Hampshire Council of Governments submitted a CPA application for the first
phase of historical rehabilitation 'to the Hampshire County Courthouse.
WHEREAS, the project provides a broad public benefit to the citizens of Northampton and the
region.
WHEREAS, the project serves a public purpose by preserving a structure and downtown
greenspace of important historic significance.
WHEREAS, the Council of Governments will provide a Conservation Restriction to the City of
Northampton on the courthouse lawn.
WHEREAS, on April 18, 2012, the nd $ 00 000 C Commun'tty Preservation Act funds
unanimously to re be
used to support this project.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED,
That $100,000 be appropriated from Community Preservation Act funding to the Northampton
Conservation Commission for the Hampshire County Courthouse Renovation. And, that the
grantee meets the conditions approved by the Community Preservation Committee, the Mayor,
and City Council.
Specifically, $100,000 is appropriated from the CPA Budgeted Reserve (account 42344930 -
359930).
