O rdered ) that
WHEREAS, the Northampton Conservation Commission submitted a CPA application
for purchase of approximately 100 acres which will bookend the northern
and southern boundaries of the Mineral Hills Conservation Area.
WHEREAS, this is a strategically important location
WHEREAS, this purchase will allow discontinuance of mile of Turkey
Hill Road, which will eliminate cost to the and a threat from possible
development.
WHEREAS, the project meets the goals of the Sustainable Northampton Plan an.d Opeli
Space, Recreation and Multiuse Trail Plan to protect open. space and provide
for passive recreation.
WHEREAS, on November 16, 2011, the Northampton Comi Preservation
Committee, voted 6-2 to recommend $302,000 in Community Preservatiol
Act funds be used to support this project.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED,
That $302,000 be appropriated from Community Preservation Act funding to the
Northampton Conservation Commission for the Mineral Hills Bookends project. And,
that the grantee meets the conditions approved by the Community Preservation
Committee, the Mayor, and City Council.
Specifically, $124,300.10 is appropriated from the CPA Open Space Reserve'(accoilllt
#2344930- 359931), and $177,699.90 is appropriated from the CPA .Budgeted Reserve
(account #2344930- 359930).
And that the Northampton Conservation Commission IS attthorir_ecl to contract for and

And that the City of Northampton, acting thl - oLlgh Its COnsel VatlOn CO111mISS1O11, is
authorized to purchase or otherwise acquire for conservation, passive recreation, and
active recreation purposes, as provided by MGL Chapter 4U, Section 8C, MGL•Chapter
45, SeEion 45, and other applicable sections of the General Laws, any fee, easement.,. and
any conservation restriction and /or agricultural preservation restriction as defined in
MGL Chapter 154, Section 31 of the General Laws or any other interest in the above land
and any i.mmediately adjoining land and consistent with Article 97 of the amendments to
the Massachusetts Constitution and the Community Preservation Act
And that City Council approves such conservltion and agriculture preservation
restrictions.
